“Culture at the Campsite” Plan in Saint-Jean-de-Monts: “The goal in itself is interesting, but given the way it was carried out by Rachida Dati…”
A short juggling lesson this Thursday afternoon at the Davière campsite. Between the jacuzzi, the laundromat, the basketball court, and the straw hut at the refreshment bar, 14-year-old Zélia struggles to spin a plate on a wooden stick, while Keven, a professional juggler, encourages her: "The technique is there, even if it's always a bit difficult at first." Welcome to Saint-Jean-de-Monts, the mecca of Vendée camping with its 7,342 pitches for almost the same number of inhabitants. On Rue Notre-Dame, which stretches from the town center for several kilometers, campsites follow one another, their rows of mobile homes parallel to the seafront between a craft shop, a mini-golf course, and a snack bar.
Among them, the Flower camping la Davière is hosting one of the events of the brand new "Culture at the campsite" plan, launched at the end of May by the Ministry of Culture. Presented by the government as a "new step for local culture," the program is led by Rachida Dati herself. Thus, in the first launch video, the minister invites everyone to the campsite, herself posted behind the counter of the Marina, in Canet-en-Roussillon. In the second, it is Franck Dubosc, star actor of the Camping saga whose director, Fabien Onteniente, is sponsor of the operation, who announces the event.
